Adding a new module to the Oxygen template

I found instructions on how to add custom CSS to add a new module to one of your other templates and it worked great, but when I tried it on the Oxygen template it didn't work. I'm trying to use the space in the top header area to the right of the logo. Can you offer any suggestions on how to do this?
