To amend try adding the following to the Custom CSS field of your templates parameters (Extensions -> Templates -> [YourTemplateStyle] -> Custom CSS)....

.content_full .item-image {

    float: right;

    padding-left: 3rem;

}

Indeed, for the default article display, this Joomla option should be supported. I will include a fix to the template with the next update.
