Hi All

I would like to edit my blog settings so that clicking the blog image links to said blog post. (would like to see this standard)

I've been searching menu, category and article settings as well as tutorials here with no joy.

Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Thanks
Alison

Hi Ciaran - This sounds like a good idea.

I own the pro version of Adv Module Mgr and have installed it but will gratefully take you up on your offer to configure it.

NB: just had my site review with my client and he is delighted. Thank you and J51 :)

Ah my apologies. I thought we had already resolved the linked images query. I have amended your global settings and your blog article images should be now linked as default.

The hidden menus are simply to allow you to control what modules are displayed when you open these articles. They are usually only needed when you display a blog on the homepage but you do not want to display the homepage modules when you open each article. Please note that this is nothing to do with the template. You would have the same issue regardless of your template. As advised I would suggest using Advanced Module Manager if you would sooner not mess around with 'hidden' menus.

Hi Ciaran

Yes we did deal with the image linking.

Why I'm confused is hidden menus that aren't actually hidden but displayed on my home page and also I've never had to have hidden menus to have linked images in my templates with JooStrap.

Sorry this bit isn't clicking for me :) Thanks for your patience.

OK maybe I miss understand. I thought we have already amended the images to link to your articles? I am suggesting installing Advanced Module Manager so you dont have to mess with hidden menus (https://docs.joomla.org/How_to_control_module_display_when_linking_to_an_article_with_no_menu_item).

I'm not sure what Advanced Mod Mgr has to do with image linking.

Hi Alison

This issue is not template related but just a particular;y frustrating aspect of Joomla that is probably best explained here... https://stackoverflow.com/questions/9721430/home-page-modules-showing-on-articles-in-joomla

I would recommend installing and setting up Advanced Module Manager from Regular Labs. It very much simplifies module assignment and will give you a lot more direct control. Would you like me to install and set up Advanced Module Manager for you?

Hi

After having a chance to get in to admin. I see your "hidden menu" however it is not hidden it is in the footer of the home page. The previous menu there I had named bottom has been removed.

I don't understand but further a not hidden hidden menu cannot replace the menu I had placed on the site.

Good morning Ciaran

I have no idea what you mean. I don't run into this on other templates. Does this mean I have to link every article in a hidden menu to get linking images? I have a boat load of articles to add and sure don't want this kind of extra task for every article I have to add.

Thank you Alison

I have created a hidden menu with the affected article. Giving an article a menu item like this allows Joomla to correctly set the module assignment to that article.

Hi Alison

May I suggest sending temporary administration access to your Joomla installation to info@joomla51.com and we will examine this issue further. For our reference please paste a link to this post in your email.

Hi Ciaran

Beats me on that since I haven't edited your original setting on blogs/articles yet short of linking titles.

Hi Alison

Your articles are linking correctly however it appears you have some of your homepage modules are assigned to these articles? [Articles -> Velit esse molestie] for example does not have the issue.

Done and while it is now doing something it takes it to the home page vs the appropriate blog post. Closer :)

Hi Alison

Rather than adding the CSS to the Custom Code field, could you add it to the Custom CSS field instead (Custom CSS tab).

Hi Ciaran

I did add the CSS to the custom CSS in the template and also in the second template style only being used on the other links page.

Will do on the separate posts for other questions. :)

Hi Alison

Strangely I am unable to see the suggested CSS in your website source. Have you multiple template styles? If so have you tried adding the CSS to each style?

Ideally, if you could create a separate post for each that would be great.

Thanks Ciaran

Pasted that in and cleared cache and refreshed but it doesn't seem to be working.

I have several other things I wanted to ask about. Should I do it in this thread or start separate ones?

Thanks
Alison
