I believe your issue is that you are finding your images to be cropped rather than distorted? Due to the styling of the hover effect of this GridGallery module (images slide to left on hover), images will be slightly cropped to the right. This cropped area then slides in to view when the image is hovered.

Sorry to say as the slide effect is created via PHP within the module core it is not possible to remove this effect without radically changing the module files. The GridGallery styling varies from one template to the next so if you can find a version of the module from one of the other templates which suits your needs we would be happy to make it available to you.

ok thanks but what about just making the desciptin text smaller when you hover over the image please?

In J51_GridGallery module’s general settings, image width is set to 144. The actual images are 144 pixels wide. When animation ceases, not only are the images cropped all around, they are blurry from being enlarged. When I use Firefox Web Developer Tools to display image dimensions, I see they have been expanded to 194 pixels wide.

Where do I adjust how much the images will be enlarged?

Here is another illustration what is happening to the images - where do I control the amount of scaling?

or maybe you can tell me how to create the images to accommodate the scaling without losing clarity. I've tried a variety of sizes and transparent borders, but haven't figured out the correct formula.

To edit the description size you can add the following to the Custom CSS field of your templates parameters (edit to taste)...

For best results add 50px more than the width set within your module settings. So if your image GridGallery image width is set to 144px, use images of at least 194px in width. 50px is the size of the horizontal transition effect.

Looking in to this further you could try removing the following from your modules style.css (../modules/mod_j51gridgallery/css/styles.css) which should go a long way in removing a lot of this hover styling....
