The client for whom I'm building the site wants a particular photo for the header background image. The menu items are barely visible against the top of the image. I used the green preset for Ensley but tried a lot of different colors for the menu items. Nothing works. I even tried putting a translucent darker layer over the top of the image. I hated it. Is there any code snippet that would enable me to put a dark-colored block/background around each menu item that would make the menu lettering more visible? Second choice, probably wouldn't help, some code that would bolden the menu item names?

I had the same issue some years ago using Boss. I decided we could live with it but this time the menu items aren't even visible unless you know where to look for them. I think I could make my client happy with Lifestyle, which I've used several times in the distant past but I've become spoiled by things like Module Style Overrides and Utility Classes.

Thank you, yet again, for the assistance and your patience.
MJ

I had another idea: if I converted the main menu to the hornav moduule could I use some css to color the background of the module? I already tried converting to the hornav module in the hopes that it would allow me to make some modifications but no luck there.

Hi MJ

Presuming I understand you correctly, to amend try adding the following to the Custom CSS field of your templates parameters (Extensions -> Templates -> [YourTemplateStyle] -> Custom CSS)....

(edit to taste)

.hornav > ul > li {
margin: 5px;
}
.hornav > ul > li > a {
background-color: rgb(29, 52, 23);
padding: 9px 12px;
border-radius: 4px;
}
