Love your templates Ciarán!

Upgrades! Upgrades! Upgrades! - Just wondering if you've done any testing of your templates on Joomla 4.0?

If there's any compatibility issues, will there be updates for older templates (i.e. up to a year or two ago)?

Thanks so much!

Hello

It so happens I am part of the Joomla 4 team so I am in a good position to prepare templates for J4 when the time comes (contributions so far.. https://github.com/joomla/joomla-cms/pulls?q=is%3Apr+author%3Aciar4n+is%3Aclosed).

So far the biggest change will be migrating from Bootstrap 2 to Bootstrap 4 which will not be a big issue however will involve a template update. We are yet to move Joomla 4 in to alpha. It will only be when Joomla 4 reaches beta stage and there is a new feature freeze that we can seriously start considering making Joomla 4 compatible templates available. All going well this will towards the end of the year. :D

Hi Ciarán:

Are you still a part of the Joomla 4 development team?
Will upgrading to the new templates be a big deal once it does come out?
How many of your templates do you think you will be updating to Joomla 4 versions?

Thanks
Lisa

Hi Lisa

I still occasionally help out but currently, can no longer commit as much time as before. Hopefully, that will change over the coming months.

Upgrading your template should be as simple as installing the J4 version of your template via your 'Extensions Manager'. We intend to make all current Joomla51 templates compatible with Joomla 4.

Sounds great! I'm glad to know for planning purposes that they will be upgraded. Thanks =)
I try to keep up as much as I can. Are you looking into speed optimization for your templates as well?

Yes we will always try and optimize templates in this regard as mush as possible. There is some limitations in Joomla 3 however Joomla 4 should great improve the possibilities.
