Your choice of template is very much down to personal taste. All templates include basic gallery extensions, these extensions can be added 'private', register only pages using the core Joomla functionality. For more advanced gallery extensions, you can use a 3rd party extension, a list of which can be found at... https://extensions.joomla.org/category/photos-a-images/galleries/
