May I suggest sending temporary administration access to your Joomla installation to info@joomla51.com and we will create the module override for you. For our reference please paste a link to this post in your email.
As these are font icons rather than images, an alt attribute is not allowed under the HTML5 spec (attributes available for 'i' tags.... https://www.w3.org/TR/html5/dom.html#global-attributes-2). Would you like to add a title attribute which is often considered a suitable alternative?
